The Armenian International Women’s Association sorrows over the loss of longtime and dedicated member Lily Ring Balian, past president of the Los Angeles Affiliate, Publicity Director, Chair of International Conferences, and Liaison with the AIWA National Board. Lily passed away March 9, 2023.

A powerhouse in her own right, Lily embodied the spirit of AIWA, devoting her time and skills to the empowerment of women, blending the best of our Armenian heritage to strengthen not only Armenians but all Americans.

“Her boundless energy and vivacious personality are legend,” said Silva Katchiguian, President of AIWA. “Lily was a natural mentor. Charming in every way, she captured our hearts with her humor and sharp wit, bringing untold meaning to the lives of women everywhere.”

Lily’s held an impressive career in both the private and public sectors working among corporate presidents, state governors, attorney generals, and presidents of the United States. (Lily Ring Balian Bio Video) Among her many accomplishments AIWA recognized Lily as the 2014 recipient of the Ellis Island Award, for her extraordinary life of goodwill, wisdom, and authentic patriotism.

A friend and mentor to all who met her, Lily lived by her faith, with genuine dedication to serve and enhance the rights of individuals everywhere. She will be missed dearly for her wise counsel, encouragement and support, and her always present smile.
