Today, we feature Lena Tashjian
Lena Tashjian is an author, writer, and recipe developer, from Canada. Her interest in food developed after going vegan as a university student, which lead her to become a nutritionist. She lived in Armenia for six years, where she began writing about food, culture, tradition and travel to develop her own blog and various publications. Upon returning to Canada, she established a Vegan Armenian Kitchen, where she shares recipes and stories of Armenian food.
Her recipes include local, Diaspora and Western Armenian dishes. She co-published The Vegan Armenian Kitchen Cookbook with Siroon Parseghian, a photographer and creative director from Los Angeles.

Q: What is your life philosophy?
Always seek the positive in every situation, and if that seems impossible, find the lesson.
Q: What is your hope for the future?
My hope for the future is simply a more compassionate one, where we are capable of having and extending empathy for everyone and also to animals–beyond just our pets.
Q: What is your favorite thing about being Armenian?
The ability of meeting fellow Armenians throughout the world and feeling like a little Armenia is being created has yet to lose its charm for me!
Q: How has the Armenian Culture shaped/influenced you?
It has made me resilient, curious, and forever grateful.
