After her mom said “no” to a humanitarian opportunity outside of the U.S, Annie established a worldwide nonprofit, Am4Teens, for students like her to be involved in global progress online without directly needing to go to the volunteer site. To this day, Am4Teens has over 490 high school and college students worldwide getting involved in what they call 2-Gs (global-gameplan). Students ages 14-21 can get involved in Am4teens online at
Q: What is your life philosophy?
To just go for it. Simple as that. It will be a ‘bumpy road’, but if there is something that you are immensely passionate about, do not let anyone change your mind. The most successful people to this day have been told how their ideas would fail, and yet they wouldn’t be where they are if they didn’t just do it. I would rather experience failure than be constantly afraid of failing. As Dolly Parton once said,
“… if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain”.
Q: What is your hope for the future?
My hope for the future is unity. With this pandemic, I feel like everyone was divided. I just hope that in the future we can have unity and respect for each other.
Q: What is your favorite thing about being Armenian?
My favorite thing about being Armenian is our language. The uniqueness in our alphabet is one of a kind and very beautiful. I enjoy hearing non-Armenians learn and speak our language- it genuinely makes me happy since it is not an easy language to learn.
We called 2020 the year of the upheaval… what was your biggest upheaval, what did it teach you?
My biggest challenge for 2020, and I’m sure for everyone, was the pandemic. I like to call 2020 “a series of unfortunate events” (que the T.V show). It was definitely an upheaval, and I learned how to focus on myself and provide support to those who were immensely struggling. Since Am4Teens is virtual, I wanted to use the organization I created to support thousands of individuals around the world and allow students to take part in it during these unprecedented times.
